Teaching

I am one of the very lucky few who has managed to do something I love as my main job, Teaching Music!

I teach Guitar, Bass and Drums in various schools along the south coast including Fareham Academy, Oasis Academy Mayfield,  Portchester Community School and Stroud Preparatory School.

I also work for Portsmouth Music Hub in various schools within Portsmouth. PMH has gone from strength to strength in the past few years, having won the National Hub Innovation award in 2013, Best Printed Resource in 2014 and the Major Award from the MEC (Music Education Council) in 2015 making it one of the best music hubs in the country and something that I am very proud to be part of.

However my favourite part of my job is as ensemble director of Portsmouth Rocks!, the three rock bands I teach and mentor as part of PMH in Portsmouth.

I started the rock band ensembles myself back in 2011 as a way for young musicians to have an outlet for their talents, find like minded people and to perform on proper stages to start the journey of playing bands and creating music together at an early age.

Since it started it has grown from one band to three, covering all age ranges, from 6-18, and all ability levels. We have played at Portsmouth Guildhall, the Wedgewood Rooms and have music video's at Rock The Rooms at University Of Winchester.

Also some of the members have since gone on to study music at degree level at Academy Of Contemporary Music (my old university), BIMM, LIPA and University of Sussex and I am very happy to have been of help on their musical journey.

Finally I do private guitar and bass lessons from my studio and home visits for those who prefer to learn from home.
